When God's Math isn't Mathing...

While living in South Africa and about to lead a field assignment to Nepal, God asked me to give away the last of my money so that one of my students could go. So, I paid the rest of her fees, and she was able to go on her field assignment. After that, I thought, 'But how will I pay my field assignment fees? The due date is tomorrow. I know my bank account is empty, and nothing is coming in for another three weeks. How will I pay?'

​​The next morning, I stood in front of the ATM and told God, 'If you want me to go and lead this team, the money will come out.' I put my bank card in, and the money came out! The money wasn't and hasn't ever been withdrawn from my bank account. God is so good and faithful! 

Often, God will ask us to step out in obedience so that He can show us a miracle. It is up to us to allow Him to show us. I had a choice - do I pay my own fees or the ones for my student? I felt like He asked me, 'How much are you invested in leading this team? Are you willing to give up your spot if I asked you?' If I had paid my fees first, I would have never seen the miracle God did in my life. I would also have missed seeing this girl grow in trusting the Lord to care for her. God opened my eyes to see that HE CARES and TAKES CARE!

Sharon Allen has always had a passion for missions. Born in the Netherlands, she worked as a civil engineer until 2011, when she did her DTS in Kona and became a full-time missionary. She met her husband, Matthew, on the mission field, and together with their 3 children, they serve the Lord wherever He leads them. She loves to read, play disc golf, go geocaching, and do fun activities with her kids.
