You want to learn more about God
You’ll spend the first 12 weeks of DTS learning about God, and how you and others fit into His plan. Then you’ll spend the last 8 weeks learning how to apply those things on your field assignment! You want something life changing Maybe you know that there’s something more for you, but can’t quite figure out what that something more is. Many people leave DTS with a better understanding of their passions and how they can use them to serve the Lord.

DTS is an exhilarating adventure. A lot can happen in the five months you’ll be here, including traveling internationally for the field assignment! Packing for such an adventure can be overwhelming; what do you need to bring? What should you leave at home? Is there something you’re forgetting?? Let me help you out: Finances. That word alone scares people off from missions. It scares them because we live in a world where if you don’t have any money, you can’t go out and follow your calling. But I follow God and I have seen Him work in ways that I can’t even begin to explain. God turns the impossible into possible!
In 1998 as Hurricane Mitch ravaged Honduras and Nicaragua, a small team from Mercy Ships, on the ground at the time, immediately began responding to the needs of the people who had lost everything. Rescue turned to relief efforts as the team organized food and supply distribution, most of which was brought in by the m/v Caribbean Mercy. As word spread, local pastors began to gather in the living room of the main team house. Weeks turned to months. Tom Schmidt realized that in order to equip these pastors to better equip their people, he himself needed more training. When I began my Chronological Biblical Core Course back in 2021, I had no idea the value it would have for me. I originally chose to do the CBCC because I wanted to be closer to God and wanted to be able to study the Bible on my own. Those weren’t selfish desires, but they were self-focused.
Little did I know how passionate I would become in helping others learn to study the Bible. During my CBCC I realized that I had been content to allow my pastor or someone else to read the Bible for me; however I didn’t spend much time reading it myself. Many members of the Church struggle with this. Some just don’t know where to begin or find the Bible very intimidating. My husband and I recently went to Asia to teach at a Discipleship Training School. We are missionaries, and like other missionaries, we rely on a team of generous supporters to fund what we do. . Our supporters aren’t just financial partners with us, but they are prayer and ministry partners as well. I would say that our ministry partnership is the most important part for us. Have you ever heard the phrase, “Find your rest in God.”? Do you know what it means? Do you really know what it means, like, have you ever had to actually do it? Sleep didn’t get me through this week. Coffee, good friends, healthy food, exercise, and orange juice didn’t get me through this week. I’m not kidding when I say that Jesus is what I lived off of. You’ve heard about Youth With A Mission (YWAM) and Discipleship Training Schools (DTS). But did you know that there are more courses designed to take you deeper into specific topics after DTS? The nine-month Chronological Bible Core Course (CBCC) was created to enable those from all walks of life to participate in a University of the Nations CBCC part-time while continuing with their day-to-day responsibilities. It is designed to give you a thorough understanding of the Inductive Bible Study approach by learning how to employ various methods for reading, interpreting, and applying the Scriptures!
Our team had split into 2 smaller teams to preach the Gospel in a small village on a mountain. In this part of Asia, every village or region has their own language. We needed two translators. One translator spoke both the national language and the village language. The other translator spoke the national language and English. Confusing, I know!
